A workcell measuring just 0.8 x 1m, with an ABB IRB 120 robot hanging upside-down from the ceiling, is used at global contact lens manufacturer CooperVision’s R&D facility in Southampton. The cell provides a reduced cycle time of 30% by enabling the faster transfer of contact lenses between the moulding and curing processes.

ABB's robotics business has signed Mike Wilson as its new General Industry Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland. Mike is tasked with growing and managing sales of ABB's robots and robot systems for non-automotive applications, such as mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics, aerospace, pharmaceutical and medical.
