The Igus e-spool is a compact cable management system that has been designed to be more flexible than traditional cable drums. It is being exhibited for the theatre industry for the first time at the ABTT Show in London.

Igus supplies a wide range of energy chains for the theatre and entertainment industry, enabling theatre technicians to easily manage cables, and the company’s compact energy chains have proven particularly popular in lifts, stages and lighting rigs. They include unsupported cables and gliding energy chains for horizontal energy supply, hanging and standing chains for vertical energy supply, as well as options for rotating motion.

E-spool enables users to guide many different cable and hose types, for example power, BUS, data and even fibre optics, in one single compact system. Easy to install and robust, it provides cables reliably in any direction for travels of up to 14m in a wide range of lifting and moving applications.
 
Also on show is Igus’ Zig Zag Energy Chain, which is a vertical cable management system designed to save space. The Zig Zag installation is achieved by reversing the links of the energy chain to create a folding effect. This can be done several times, depending on the length of the energy chain and the space required. Once retracted, the system becomes very compact and the housed cables are protected with a minimum bend radius enforced by the energy chain.
