Future significance of water industry spurs appointment of business development manager for process automation

Gillard is joining a team working closely with customers to realise the benefits of process automation across many industries. In his new role, he is responsible for growing Festo’s business in the water industry, with a specific focus on valve actuators and control systems.

Gillard has over 20 years’ sales experience, the last seven of which have been in the water industry. Prior to joining Festo, he worked at MHW Treatment, a specialist in wet infrastructure, and formerly Biwater Treatment as Business Development Manager, where he had responsibility for the sales of capital equipment, including scrapers bridges, aeration equipment and rotors and grit removal technology.

“The water industry is a significant focus for us,” says Steve Sands, Product Manager at Festo. “Efficient solutions for water and wastewater treatment are particularly crucial when it comes to dealing sustainably with water as a resource. As a result, more and more attention is being focused on the automation of water and wastewater treatment plants. Tony’s extensive experience, coupled with his industry knowledge, makes him perfect for the role and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Commentating on his appointment, Gillard says: “From standard pneumatic and electric components, ready-to-install sub-systems, and the complete automation of customers’ processes, Festo has many solutions for improving process efficiencies. I’m looking forward to being part of such an innovative company, identifying new business opportunities for them as well as helping our customers to operate as efficiently as possible.”
