Hydraulics library incorporated into modelling and siulation software

Maplesoft : 05 October, 2013  (New Product)
Maplesoft has announced an addition to the MapleSim product family, the MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon. This new component library is the result of a technology partnership with Modelon, the developer of Modelica libraries. With the MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon, engineers can combine hydraulics components with the modelling, analysis, and simulation capabilities of MapleSim.

MapleSim's physical modelling and simulation can dramatically reducing model development and analysis time, while producing fast, high-fidelity simulations. The modeling is at the system level, so engineers can combine hydraulic subsystems with other domains and analyse their interactions.

The MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon includes over 200 components for modelling pumps, motors, cylinders, restrictions, valves, hydraulic lines, lumped volumes and sensors. It enables engineers to account for compressible oil and cavitation effects, resulting in an extremely accurate view of system dynamics.

“Hydraulics systems are notoriously difficult to model with high accuracy, but so important in understanding system-level behaviour,” says Dr Laurent Bernardin, Executive Vice-President and Chief Scientist at Maplesoft.

Modelon systems simulation tools are based on the Modelica and FMI (Functional Mockup Interface) industry standards. This avoids the impediments of vendor lock-in, tool incompatibility and proprietary development languages. Modelon has offices in Sweden, Germany and the United States and users include Audi, BMW, Daimler, Saab Aerospace, Siemens, Tetrapak, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
