REO manufactures resistive and inductive wound components for use with static frequency converter drives in lift and HVAC applications. The company is becoming increasingly involved in renewable energy technology, where power quality is of overriding importance. REO has manufacturing operations in Germany, the US, China and India.

Cathodic protection fights the battle with rust
23 August, 2015
Steve Hughes of power quality expert REO UK explains how the battle with rust can be overcome using cathodic protection systems. The Reotron SMP-CP is a robust transformer rectifier power supply range specifically designed for cathodic protection applications.
Power equipment manufacturer urges drives industry to embrace UL product safety testing and certification.
08 December, 2013
Power equipment manufacturer REO UK is calling for the drives industry to change its perception of UL product safety testing and certification. The company believes that this key safety process is perceived to be red tape by many European OEMS and UK control panel manufacturers and systems integrators. In fact it is a key part of the process of selling equipment to the United States – which is still one of the biggest markets for automation in the world.
China's bullet train dampens inverters with absorption circuit inductors
24 October, 2013
The designers of China’s high speed, cross country bullet train have incorporated absorption circuit inductors (AMCs) and auxiliary transformers manufactured by power equipment manufacturer REO. The components have helped the train improve both safety and passenger comfort.
3D printer will speed time to market for electronic component manufacturer
09 September, 2013
REO UK, a manufacturer of resistive and inductive wound components, has introduced a new 3D printing machine in its factory in Solingen, Germany, to assist with rapid prototyping. The newly acquired 3D printer will help speed time to market and improve product quality.
Chokes test appliance switches to international standards
12 June, 2013
REO has designed and manufactured chokes for testing switches in domestic applications to the international BS EN 61058-2-1 and BS EN 60669-2-1 standards. BS EN 61058-2-1 applies to switches for appliances with particular requirements for cord switches, while BS EN 60669-2-1 covers switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations with particular requirements of electronic switches.
Encapsulated drive peripherals provide added ingress protection
04 April, 2013
Component manufacturer REO has introduced a new range of encapsulated units. The new units solve the problem of using non-IP65 rated drive peripherals with IP-65 rated variable speed drives, which is something other manufacturers have not yet achieved. The encapsulated units mean when in use, the core can be cooled in a much more efficient way, allowing other products which are used alongside to develop a much longer shelf life.
AC current transformer meets IEC 60044-1 with 0.2% accuracy
01 March, 2013
REO’s new AC current transformer is accurate to 0.2% - meeting IEC 60044-1 requirements. Current transformers are used to isolate low voltage monitoring circuits from higher power circuits when monitoring or measurement must take place. A current transformer produces a reduced current accurately proportional to the current in the circuit, which can be connected to measuring and recording instruments.
Remote monitoring boosts wound component demand
13 February, 2013
REO is showcasing its leading-edge wound component technology at Southern Manufacturing 2013. The products on show include toroidal current transformers, a water-cooled choke filter combination and variable switch mode power supplies, as well as power supplies for use in cathodic protection.
Independently sourced wound components can simplify VSD purchasing
03 October, 2012
According to Reo, variable speed drive (VSD) manufacturers are moving away from offering multiple options and add-ins to their core product according to Reo UK. Instead they are encouraging end-users to source equipment such as input mains chokes and filters, DC link braking resistors and output dv/dt filters, sinusoidal filters and motor chokes independently.
