Kaal Masten presents the Spirit: claimng it to be the world’s first solar-powered lighting column that does not use mains power. It is available in a complete series (up to 18m). As a result, a complete range of stand-alone lighting columns that can provide top quality lighting is available. This column has taken about three years to develop and the first Spirits will soon be installed at the TU/e in Eindhoven.

Compact safety key switch to isolate power to machinery

The SR key switch is part of Fortress’ mGard range of safety interlocks. When the key is trapped inside the SR unit the power to machinery is on, and when the key is free, power is off. This allows the person carrying the freed key to enter the machinery or guarded area safely and power is not resumed until the key is returned. This is a typical sequence and other sequences can be specified.

BS EN 61058-2-1 applies to switches for appliances with particular requirements for cord switches, while BS EN 60669-2-1 covers switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations with particular requirements of electronic switches.
