Major hazard industries are set to benefit from new process safety competencies and lead metric guidelines that represent current thinking and industry best practice. The guidelines are the inaugural works produced by the Institution of Chemical Engineers Safety Centre (ISC).
Thin Film Transistors: pre-production prototyping programme

SmartKem, supplier of Tru-Flex semiconductors, has announced an three-year collaboration programme with the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), for the development of pre-production prototypes featuring semiconductor inks for the manufacture of ultra flexible thin film transistors (TFT). The three year agreement will explore the manufacture of unbreakable and foldable displays and electronics.

Latest advances in capturing data on brain activity and eye movement are being combined to open up a host of ′mindreading’ possibilities for the future. These include the potential development of a system that can detect when drivers are in danger of falling asleep at the wheel. The research has been undertaken at the University of Leicester with funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and in collaboration with the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
