Annual Manufacturing Survey to drive the sector forward

Carpenter Box : 22 January, 2014  (Company News)
Request to complete survey by 24 January 2014 and receive an early copy of the report. The data captured from the survey will be anonymised and analysed by Philippa Oldham, Head of Manufacturing and Transport at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), with further commentary from Cranfield University – renowned for its manufacturing and engineering faculty. Every business involved will get their own early copy of the report.

West Sussex-based chartered accountants, Carpenter Box LLP, in conjunction with MHA (a UK wide group of independent accountants and business advisors), has just launched its annual Manufacturing Survey to SME Manufacturers and Engineers throughout the UK. The data gained from the survey will be used to build on the current positive outlook for the sector and engage with the government and the opposition parties to raise awareness about the Manufacturing sector in the run-up to the 2015 election.

Last year more than 300 SMEs in the sector responded to the survey, and it is hoped that this figure will increase this year.

The short survey covers a lot of ground, but it’s quick to complete and respondents could win an Ipad Mini in the process. The responses will help Carpenter Box and their colleagues in the Manufacturing Group at MHA to get a detailed picture of where the opportunities and barriers to growth really are in the next year.  There’s a particular emphasis in the survey on understanding the skills gap within the sector this year as this was raised as a significant issue for the Manufacturing sector at a recent meeting of the Sussex Manufacturing Forum.

Chris Coopey, Head of the Manufacturing Sector at Carpenter Box and Head of the Manufacturing Group at MHA, commented: “In addition to using the data to engage with the government, we’ll also be looking to talk about the survey more locally with the Local Economic Partnerships, MAS, UKTI, Schools, Colleges and UniversitiesSo, the more responses we get, the better and you could win an Ipad Mini for your efforts!”
