Institution to host showcase of 40 of the most promising green UK technologies

Institution Of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) : 05 February, 2014  (Company News)
EcoConnect CIC’s Cleantech Innovate event gives UK investment-ready companies the opportunity to present their cutting-edge green technologies to a diverse audience including potential investors and corporate buyers.
Innovations as varied as fossil-free cargo ships powered by wind, through to energy efficient refrigeration which could save supermarkets around the world billions of pounds, are among the 40 technologies that will be showcased at the Second EcoConnect Cleantech Innovate Event taking place at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers on Thursday 13 February.
The event will be kick-started by a keynote address from Greg Barker MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change. This will be followed by live presentations from the forty pre-selected companies, to an audience of potential investors, buyers and sector support services.

Dr Tim Fox, Head of Energy and Environment at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and one of the judges at the event, said: “This event demonstrates the inventive and hugely varied nature of the UK’s green technology sector, which is very much alive and kicking. Some of the technologies that will be presenting during the event could have the potential to revolutionise industries and change people’s day-to-day lives, not only here in the UK, but right across the developed and developing world.”
EcoConnect CIC was established in 2009 and is the UK's Green Industry Business Network, providing links to investment, procurement and expertise - its aim is to better connect cleantech industry by building the largest green business support network and connections hub in the UK.  A not-for-profit, politically independent agency, EcoConnect is helping to accelerate the UK’s transition to a Green Economy through its networking forums, training workshops and connections to investment and industry support.
Catherine Hokin, Co-Founder and Director of EcoConnect said: "The delegate list shows that anyone with a real interest in the low carbon economy will be at this event. Whether they are coming as investors looking for the commercial stars of the future or buyers looking to green their supply chain or simply to make the best connections in the sector, we know that they are in for a very rewarding day."
Awards from Climate KIC, ecoConnect CIC and the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership will be announced on the day.
